Ever considered that LiDAR and point cloud viewing is not so easy to read ? At Orbit GT we’ve introduced a range of tweaking parameters to help you select the best viewing experience, such as dynamic distance shading, dynamic color range limitations, pixel size, brightness and more.
Now we add the Shadow option. Switch on to emulate a shadow based on the distance from the viewpoint to the point cloud pixel. It sharpens object edges. This technique is also called ‘Eye Dome lighting’. It delivers especially nice visualisation when using a color range or greyscale to view point clouds.
Take a look at the image. The left half shows a point cloud without shading, the right half is the same view now with shading switched on.
